Sherry Kay Kinser, founder of Art of Southern Humboldt, is a very creative artist who especially likes to work with oils in a surreal milieu. She often works on four different paintings at the same time, while balancing the tasks of being the mother of an active three year old son, the developer of this cooperative business, and producing hand crafted frames for some of her paintings. Her husband, Mark, helps with the framing, packing and shipping orders, and responding to e-mail and invoices, while he runs his own landscaping and handyman business. As with most of us who live in Southern Humboldt County, California, which no longer has the large timber industry to fuel the local economies, we must work at many different jobs to make ends meet. The rich natural beauty and warm community spirit of this area more than offsets the economic burdens, and most of us also find this stimulates our creative processes.

Because we are selling these works of art, this site changes often with new paintings being added as they are completed.
