| Description: | |
| This self-guided loop trail offers a short stroll through a mixed old-growth and second-growth redwood grove. This 47-acre memorial grove was established in 1922 in honor of Frederic Saltonstall Gould. He was born in New York City and became a medical doctor in 1875. Because of his failing health, he was not able to pursue a career as a surgeon. Instead, he moved to Montecito, California, and developed an avid interest in tree planting. He introduced the carob from Italy and the English oak. He was a lover of trees. | |
