Click here to view the above map in its own window and print it.Hidden Springs Campground is located on a hillside covered in a mixed forest of tan oak, Douglas fir, redwood, and aromatic California bay trees. The growth of understory vegetation provides a natural screening between campsites, giving campers a feeling of privacy. Campers can relax at the river, a short fifteen-minute walk away. Water level and sand bar locations at the river vary from year to year. Usually, there is a good swimming hole here. The river is always a good place for wading on hot summer days.
Frequently, visitors ask where the springs are. Although there are no hot springs in the area, there are numerous natural seeps where groundwater comes to the surface. While trying to locate the water source for the campground, the workers had difficulty finding a good spring, thus they named the campground Hidden Springs. The few small springs are best seen in the early season. By the end of summer, most have dried up.
