Trailhead: Lower Bull Creek Flats parking lot
Location: One and one half miles west of the Avenue of the Giants on the Mattole Road. Five and one half miles from Humboldt Redwoods State Park Visitor Center.
Hiking time: ½ hour
Distance: ½ mile loop
Difficulty: Easy
Elevation gain/loss:
  • Starting elevation: 200 feet
  • Gain/loss: approximately 20 feet
Seasonal bridge access: Yes - summer only access to Women's Federation Grove or river trail south (approximately June-September).
Description:
This trail gives you a glimpse of what much of the North Coast looked like hundreds of years ago. The preservation of this forest was made possible by a gift from John D. Rockefeller, Jr. In 1927, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. presented a gift of $1 million to the Save-the-Redwoods League to purchase over 10,000 acres of redwood forest.
