Pastors for Peace Caravan to Cuba, at the Texas border already loaded with pentium computers, ambulances, bookmobiles and precious raw materials for making antibiotics on a large scale. The Friendship Caravan arrived to a loving reception by the Cuban people in contrast to our border crossing marked by several traps and tricks by the US government.
Side trips to five provinces, included visits to hospitals and historical sites and a celebration of the Cuban national holiday which commemorates the storming of the Moncada garrison.
Thirty activists participating in the US-Cuba Friendship Conference met their Cuban counterparts and explored new avenues for solidarity and cooperation.
These caravans focus world and national attention on the plight of the US led economic embargo against Cuba. Please help us break this trade embargo, so destructive to the people of Cuba who are not our enemy.
Fin del Bloqueo-End the blocade.
Consider supporting this ongoing ('til the embargo is lifted) Chapter 22 project with donations of money, labor or goods and political pressure. Send, for example, an email message to President Clinton and other heads of national governments. We ask you to call or fax your Senators and Representatives, the Congressional switchboard is 202/225-3121). Ask them to call for the lifting of ALL sanctions on food and medicine and to guarantee that food and medicine never be used as a weapon against ANY nation. Tell your member of Congress that Cuba poses no threat to the US and ask them to vote for S1391/HR1951, bills that will open humanitarian trade with Cuba.
If you would like to join a future caravan to Cuba, or can help in any way, please call, fax or email US at:
