Nearing 50,000 Ben and Jerry's Peace Pops sold, the VFW icecream sales provides the annual funding for our many community projects.
VFW member Richard Murray seated below right,
Following the Baltimore Orioles historic games with Cuban ball players in 1999, this year our youth team has accepted an invitation to play ball in CUBA!! Our kids and neighbor kids will make this years trip an attempt to have fun while playing ball with Cuban kids.

The post also funds an annual $500.00 Jan Iris Wage Peace Scholarship, to the high school senior,
that writes the best essay on what they have done to promote peace or to protect the environment. The required letters of recommendation and essay are judged by a committee. This Scholarship is offered to to inspire local students to advance their education and bring those learned talents and skills back to our community, and, to rekindle the memory of a beloved veteran, who dedicated his last years to the preservation of our environment and to the development of forest practice methods that allows for the peaceful co-existence among all species.
The post is also proud of the Jim Demulling Peace Park dedicated to the honor of a long time local elected official.
